The Bay Area Alliance for Sustainable Communities was established in 1997 to create and advance integrated solutions that meet the social, environmental and economic needs of current and future generations. Leaders representing diverse interests came together to share ideas and aspirations, identify common objectives, then craft and implement a Compact for a Sustainable Bay Area intended to lead to a more sustainable region.
For more than 10 years, the Bay Area Alliance provided a forum for thoughtful and constructive engagement. In 2008, with the regional agencies’ FOCUS Program and other initiatives that implement elements of the Compact underway, the Bay Area Alliance ceased its operations.
The Bay Area hosts a prosperous economy, exceptional natural beauty, rich social capital and cultural diversity.
However, we are concerned about barriers to our collective prosperity.
To advance regional sustainability, we facilitate dialog to identify shared goals and develop joint action strategies.
We promote taking action in every sector that will Make a Difference.
